About the event

A major National Dialogue meeting was held in Frankfurt, Germany, with broad participation of Afghans living in Germany, researchers, academics and civil activists, who stressed that an inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue is the only way out of Afghanistan's complex current challenges.

The meeting carried four key messages: firm support for women's fundamental rights, especially the rights to education, work and active social participation; the official launch of a national media campaign, “Voice of Empathy — No to Verbal Violence!”, against verbal abuse online and in public discourse; condemnation of hostile attacks by the Pakistani military on Afghan soil and the targeting of civilians; and condemnation of the inhumane treatment of Afghan refugees in neighbouring countries and the growing wave of anti-Afghan hostility worldwide, particularly in the United States.

In the opening session, Ustad Maria Rahin and Dr. Khushal Rohi described the National Dialogue as an urgent necessity given the country's volatile political and social situation, arguing that stability and a desirable future are impossible unless the differing views of Afghans are heard, and identifying engagement, negotiation and convergence as the keys to breaking the current deadlock.

The main discussions were moderated by three facilitators — Ustad Sayed Fahim Sadat, Ustad Basir Ahmad Daneshyar and Ustad Ahmad Rashad Hakim — focusing on the challenges facing national unity, progress and peace; the essential paths and priorities for solidarity and development; and the role of the Afghan diaspora in supporting positive, reform-oriented processes, with participants contributing constructive proposals on scientific approaches, strengthening civil institutions and pooling diaspora capacities.

The meeting adopted several key resolutions — a declaration in support of women's fundamental rights; the launch of the anti-verbal-violence media campaign; condemnation of Pakistan's attacks on Afghanistan's territory and killing of civilians; and condemnation of the degrading treatment of Afghan refugees by Pakistani and Iranian security officials and of rising anti-Afghan sentiment worldwide — which participants described as a practical step in defence of Afghans' rights at home and abroad.

Dr. Khushal Rohi closed the programme with a summary of the discussions, emphasising the continuation of such meetings and describing the National Dialogue as the first step towards a more humane and just future for Afghanistan; the professional and coherent moderation of Mr. Abdul Ghani Modaqiq contributed greatly to the flow and appeal of the programme.
